2026 Renault Kwid – Variant-Wise Features, Prices and Specs

The 2026 Renault Kwid facelift launched on July 3, 2026, and one of the best things about it is how simple Renault has made the buying process. The new Kwid comes in exactly two variants: Evolution and Climber. That is it. No confusing mid-spec trims, no half-baked feature combinations to puzzle over. You pick your variant, you pick your gearbox, and you are done.

Variant 1 — Evolution | Rs 4.53 – Rs 4.90 Lakh

The Evolution is the entry point of the 2026 Kwid lineup, and it replaces the older Authentic trim that has now been discontinued. The good news is that despite being the base variant, the Evolution does not feel bare. It comes with a genuine feature set that makes everyday driving comfortable and connected.

Exterior

The Evolution gets the full 2026 Kwid exterior treatment. Up front, there is a split headlamp setup with LED DRLs positioned higher on the fascia and halogen headlamps integrated into the lower bumper. The front grille prominently displays the brand’s new 2D Renault logo. The side profile is unchanged from the previous model, with the same upright, tall stance that gives the Kwid its SUV-inspired personality. At the rear, slightly tweaked LED tail lights and updated KWID badging in silver complete the look.

One important note: the Evolution comes with 14-inch steel wheels and new dual-tone plastic wheel covers. You do not get alloy wheels on the Evolution. The dual-tone exterior finish with a contrast black roof one of the Kwid’s best looking touches is not available on the Evolution. That is reserved for the Climber.

Interior and Comfort Features

Inside, the Evolution gets a clean, familiar dashboard with KWID lettering on the passenger side in silver, piano black trim around the infotainment area, and chrome inserts on the rotary climate control knobs. The new three-spoke steering wheel borrowed from the Renault Kiger complete with the updated Renault logo is one of the best-looking elements of the refreshed interior.

  • 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system (same screen size as before, wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay)

  • New 3-spoke steering wheel with steering-mounted audio controls

  • Semi-digital instrument cluster

  • Manual air conditioning with rotary controls and rear AC vents

  • All four power windows

  • 2-speaker audio system

  • Black fabric upholstery with yellow contrast stitching

  • Dual front airbags

  • ABS with EBD

  • Rear parking camera

  • Rear parking sensors

  • Seatbelt reminders for all occupants

  • Hill start assist — available exclusively on the AMT variant

What the Evolution Misses: The Evolution does not get six airbags, TPMS, keyless entry with central locking, or the dual-tone black roof exterior option. All of those are exclusive to the Climber.

Colours Available: Fiery Red, Zanskar Blue, Ice Cool White, and Moonlight Silver.

Evolution — Who Should Buy It?: The Evolution is the right choice if you are on the tightest possible budget and primarily need a reliable, easy-to-maintain city car. The 8-inch touchscreen, rear camera, four power windows, and ABS mean you are not missing the essentials. But if you can stretch even a little, the Climber offers considerably more safety and convenience for Rs 1.08 lakh extra on the manual.

Variant 2 — Climber | Rs 5.15 – Rs 5.61 Lakh

The Climber is the fully loaded version of the 2026 Kwid, and it is where most buyers should land. It builds on everything the Evolution offers and adds a meaningful set of safety upgrades, exterior upgrades, and everyday convenience features that make the Rs 1.08 lakh step-up (MT to MT) genuinely worthwhile.

What’s Added Over the Evolution — Exterior

The most striking visual difference and today that word means visually impressive and eye catching is the dual-tone exterior finish that is now standard on the Climber. You get a contrast black roof and white painted door mirrors (ORVMs) as standard at no extra cost, which was previously an optional paid upgrade. This simple colour combination gives the Climber a noticeably more premium and youthful look compared to the single-tone Evolution.

Revised roof rails with white inserts are also part of the Climber-exclusive exterior package. The rest of the exterior is shared with the Evolution.

Interior Additions — Climber

The Climber’s cabin adds a couple of extra convenience details. The manual Climber gets a dual-tone two-spoke gear lever instead of the single-tone item on the Evolution. The AMT Climber gets a rotary gear selector finished in a dual-tone treatment. The seats use the same grey fabric upholstery with yellow contrast highlights, though the dual-tone dashboard theme feels a touch more upmarket with the Climber’s overall presentation.

Full Additional Features — Climber (over Evolution)

  • 6 airbags (vs 2 on Evolution) — front, side, and curtain airbags

  • Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) — alerts you if any tyre loses pressure

  • Keyless entry with central locking — no need to reach for the key

  • Dual-tone exterior with contrast black roof — standard, not optional

  • White ORVMs (door mirrors) — standard as part of dual-tone package

  • Revised roof rails with white inserts

  • Hill start assist — available on AMT variants (also available on Evolution AMT)

What the Climber Still Does Not Have: The 2026 Kwid Climber, being an entry-level car, does not have alloy wheels (stays on 14-inch steel wheels with wheel covers), does not have automatic climate control, does not have a sunroof, and does not have wireless charging or a digital instrument cluster. These are all expected in the Kwid EV (electric version), which Renault has confirmed will arrive in India in the future.

Colours Available: Fiery Red, Zanskar Blue, Ice Cool White, and Moonlight Silver.

Climber — Who Should Buy It?: Almost everyone who is seriously considering the 2026 Kwid should buy the Climber. Here is the straightforward reason: six airbags on a car priced at Rs 5.15 lakh is a safety level that rivals like the Maruti Alto K10 and S-Presso simply do not match. If you have a family or regularly carry passengers, that safety difference is worth the extra money every single time. The online booking discount of Rs 15,000 makes the Climber MT effectively Rs 4.99 lakh which makes the decision even easier.

CNG Option — Is It Worth Adding?

Renault offers a dealer-fitted CNG kit for both the Evolution MT and Climber MT at an additional Rs 70,449, with a warranty of 3 years or 1 lakh km from the authorised workshop.

Adding the CNG kit means your car can run on both petrol and CNG, switching between the two at the press of a button. CNG is significantly cheaper per kilometre than petrol in India, which means the kit pays for itself relatively quickly for high-mileage users.

The CNG-equipped Kwid delivers around 27 km/kg on CNG and 22.5 kmpl on petrol. For a cab driver, delivery worker, or anyone covering more than 50 km a day, the CNG kit is an excellent value addition.

Note: The CNG kit is not available on AMT variants. It is only offered with the 5-speed manual gearbox on both Evolution and Climber.

Final Thoughts

My honest take is that the first time car buyers looking for a modern, feature packed hatchback at an entry level price and anyone who wants CNG economy or 6 airbag safety without spending more than Rs 5.61 lakh.
