Hyundai Motor India sold 51,335 vehicles in June 2026, comprising 39,635 domestic units and 11,700 exports. The company attributed the lower production to a supplier fire but confirmed operations resumed from June 22 and expects to recover lost volumes in Q2 FY27.

The Supplier Fire – What Happened?
The company said its June performance was affected by a temporary disruption in production after a fire at one of its supplier’s manufacturing facilities. The incident resulted in a production loss of 13,900 units during the month. The company had earlier clarified that the impact of the incident has been largely confined to Chennai Plant 1, while operations at its Pune facility and Chennai Plant 2 remain mostly unaffected and continue as usual.
So while one plant was hit, two others continued operating. That kind of spread out manufacturing setup having multiple plants and multiple sourcing options is exactly why Hyundai was able to absorb the damage as well as it did.
The company implemented measures to restore production normalcy, including sourcing automotive parts from alternative locations. Production operations resumed normalcy across all facilities by June 22, 2026. Hyundai Motor India anticipates recovering the production deficit within the second quarter of the fiscal year 2026-27.
Model-Wise Performance
Hyundai has not released a model-wise breakdown specifically for June 2026 at the time of writing. However, based on the strong trend data from recent months, here is what the picture looks like across Hyundai’s main models:
Hyundai Creta and Creta Electric
The Creta is Hyundai’s biggest seller by a significant margin, and has been for years. Creta and Creta EV combined for 15,235 units in May 2026. Despite being Hyundai’s volume leader, sales growth was relatively modest at 2.52% YoY. Creta accounted for nearly 32% of Hyundai’s total sales during the month.
The Creta competes with the Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Tata Curvv, and Volkswagen Taigun, and it continues to hold its own against all of them through a combination of strong features, good resale value, and the trust that the Hyundai name carries.
Hyundai Venue
If the Creta is the reliable anchor, the Venue has been the unexpected high-achiever of recent months. Venue recorded one of the strongest performances in Hyundai’s lineup, with sales rising to 11,714 units in May 2026, from 7,520 units in May 2025.
That is a 56% year on year jump in May a number that very few models in the entire industry can match. The Venue’s growth story in 2026 has been driven by its refreshed lineup, competitive pricing against rivals like the Maruti Brezza and Tata Nexon, and a powertrain range that covers turbo-petrol, diesel, and CNG options.
Hyundai Exter
Exter continued its steady growth trajectory with sales of 6,595 units in May 2026, up 11.80% from 5,899 units sold in May 2025. The micro SUV contributed 13.79% of Hyundai’s overall volumes and remained one of the brand’s key growth drivers.
The Exter is Hyundai’s smallest SUV and it competes with the wildly popular Tata Punch and the Maruti Fronx. In a segment full of tough competition, maintaining consistent double-digit year-on-year growth is no small achievement.
Hyundai Aura
Aura sedan posted sales of 5,077 units in May 2026, marginally down 2.83% from last year. The Aura is one of the last compact sedans standing in a market that has almost entirely shifted to SUVs. Its consistent 5,000 unit monthly performance tells you it still has a loyal audience largely fleet operators and taxi services who prefer boot space and fuel efficiency over the higher ride height of an SUV.
Hyundai i20
The i20 hatchback registered 4,749 units in May 2026, recording a healthy 16.11% growth over 4,090 units sold in May 2025.
Grand i10 Nios
Grand i10 NIOS witnessed the sharpest decline among Hyundai’s mainstream models. Sales fell to 2,920 units in May 2026, down 32.78% YoY from 4,344 units sold last year.
Alcazar and Verna
Alcazar registered 814 units in May 2026, down 11.71% YoY. Verna also reported weaker demand with sales declining 22.26% to 723 units.
The Alcazar is Hyundai’s affordable seven-seat option, while the Verna is their mid-size sedan. Both occupy relatively niche spaces in a market dominated by two-row SUVs, and both have been facing consistent headwinds. The Verna is due for an update, which could give it a fresh boost when it arrives.
What Did the CEO Say?
Tarun Garg, Managing Director and CEO of Hyundai Motor India Limited, said that the company delivered total monthly sales of 51,335 units despite a temporary production setback caused by a fire at one of its supplier’s manufacturing facilities. He expressed confidence in the company’s ability to recover the lost production volume in the coming quarter.
Final Thoughts
Hyundai’s June 2026 sales report shows a brand that is still selling well, but not as strongly as in May. With 51,335 total units, Hyundai stayed above the 50,000 mark, which is respectable, but the month on month drop makes it clear that supply issues affected performance.
