What Is the BMW Motorrad Vision K18?
Think of the Vision K18 as a dream version of a BMW K‑series touring bike. It is long, low, and shaped like a supersonic aircraft, with a big 1,800 cc inline‑six motor that dominates the design. The bike uses six intakes, six exhaust outlets and six LED headlights to reflect the six‑cylinder architecture. The bodywork is hand‑formed aluminium, including a single side panel more than two metres in length, and it gets forged‑carbon parts and special metal finishes that look like classic racing exhausts.
BMW describes the Vision K18 as a “radical statement of puristic propulsion” and a one‑off vision bike that shows how the brand imagines high‑end performance, touring, and emotional design evolving in the future. It is not a series‑production model, and it is not available for sale.

Engine: 1,800 cc inline‑six
The Vision K18 is built around a newly developed 1,800 cc inline‑six cylinder engine. This is an evolution of the 1,649 cc engine used in the K1600 series, enlarged by roughly 150 cc to give more displacement and torque. The engine “shapes the whole motorcycle” the frame, intake layout, exhaust design and even the lighting are all arranged to highlight the six‑cylinder architecture.
Each side of the engine gets three intake tubes feeding into a central airbox in front of the fuel tank, and each cylinder has its own exhaust outlet, collecting into six tailpipes at the rear. The overall design is meant to feel almost like a jet engine or turbine, with smooth, endless power delivery and a very deep, endlessly “growling” exhaust note.
