Renault India officially launched the 2026 Kwid facelift today, July 3, 2026, with prices starting at Rs 4.53 lakh (ex-showroom). The updated hatchback is now leaner in its choices, more modern in its look, and more affordable in some trims compared to what came before.

The Kwid is Renault’s entry-level hatchback in India. It sits at the very bottom of the price ladder the kind of car a first-time buyer looks at, or a family in a smaller town considers as their very first vehicle. Since launching in 2015, the Kwid has crossed 4.5 lakh total unit sales in India, which is a significant number for a car in this segment.

New Renault Logo and Badging

The biggest visual change you will notice is the brand-new Renault logo, now displayed prominently on the front grille in 3D form. Renault updated its global brand identity a couple of years ago, and this Kwid facelift is one of the first mass-market models in Indiato carry it. You will also find the new logo on the steering wheel, the tailgate lettering gets a refreshed font, and the rear badge also carries a new silver finish. Small changes, but they make the car look current.

Updated Wheel Covers

New 3D Renault badges and redesigned dual-tone plastic covers for the 14-inch steel wheels are part of the update. On the Climber variant, the dual-tone body colour with a contrast black roof now comes as standard, whereas it was an optional extra on the older version. That is a welcome change because it was one of the Kwid’s most eye-catching looks.

Inside, the most noticeable change is the updated three spoke steering wheel carrying the new Renault logo. The upright dashboard with ‘KWID’ lettering on the passenger side, piano black finish around the touchscreen, and chrome inserts on the rotary climate control knobs all continue from the previous model. The cabin overall stays familiar, which is not a bad thing it was already clean and easy to use.

17 Standard Safety Features

The safety features list in the 2026 Renault Kwid comprises dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, seat belt reminders and a total of 17 standard safety bits across the range. The top spec Climber goes further with 6 airbags, a rear parking camera with sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), hill start assist on AMT variants, and keyless entry with central locking.

Six airbags on the top spec trim of a car priced at Rs 5.61 lakh is genuinely good value for a safety conscious buyer.

No changes here, and that is perfectly fine. The engine the Kwid uses is proven, reliable, and already well-suited to the way most buyers use this car.

The 2026 Renault Kwid is powered by the same 1.0-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 69hp and 92.5Nm. It is mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT). The claimed fuel efficiency stands at 17.63 kmpl for the petrol version. In everyday city driving, real-world numbers will be slightly lower, but the Kwid has always been a reasonably frugal car to run.

CNG Option

Renault is offering a retrofitted CNG kit for the Kwid’s manual variants at an additional Rs 70,450, with a 3-year/1 lakh km standard warranty, whichever is earlier. These CNG kits will be installed at authorised workshops.

So if you are buying the Evolution MT at Rs 4.53 lakh and adding the CNG kit, your total comes to roughly Rs 5.23 lakh but your fuel costs drop significantly over the lifetime of the car. For high-mileage users like cab drivers or families who travel a lot, the CNG option can pay for itself quite quickly.

The carmaker has also revealed its India plans, announcing 12 product “actions” over the next 18 months; four of these are slated for the remainder of 2026. Renault India CEO Stephane Deblaise said: “There won’t be more than two consecutive months without a significant update from Renault, whether it’s a limited edition, a design refresh, new technology, a new powertrain, or even an all-new car.”

That is a confident and ambitious statement. For a brand that has had a relatively quiet presence in India compared to Maruti and Hyundai, this level of commitment to the market is genuinely exciting.

My honest take is that the first time car buyers looking for a modern, feature packed hatchback at an entry level price and anyone who wants CNG economy or 6 airbag safety without spending more than Rs 5.61 lakh.
