About Ducati

The Legacy

Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A. is an Italian motorcycle manufacturing company headquartered in Borgo Panigale, Bologna, Italy. Founded in 1926 by brothers Adriano, Marcello, and Bruno Cavalieri Ducati, the company initially produced radio components before venturing into motorcycles in 1946.

The first Ducati motorcycle, the Cucciolo (Italian for “puppy”), debuted in 1950 as a 48cc engine. By 1949, Ducati had produced its first complete motorcycle. The brand’s reputation for innovation was cemented with the introduction of the Desmodromic valve system in 1956, a forced valve control mechanism that became the hallmark of Ducati’s performance engines.

Today, Ducati is part of the Audi Group (acquired in 2012) and manufactures motorcycles across multiple model families including Diavel, Hypermotard, Monster, Multistrada, Scrambler, Streetfighter, and Panigale. The brand competes in MotoGP and World Superbike Championships, where it has achieved 17 Manufacturers’ titles and 14 Riders’ titles in Superbike, and won both Manufacturers’ and Riders’ titles in MotoGP in 2007.

In 2023, Ducati delivered 58,224 motorcycles worldwide, distributed across 92 countries through 790 dealers and service points. The company maintains manufacturing plants in Bologna, Thailand (since 2011), and Brazil (since 2012) to serve global markets.

“The value here is not just the badge. It is the curation: the colours, the finishes and the numbered build that set it apart without turning it into a garage queen. In our view, the Rizoma Edition is for riders who want a bike that feels personal out of the crate, with factory design pieces you would usually add later.”
Autocar India ★★★★☆
